As the Battery Modeling Scientist, you will serve as a subject-matter expert and technical resource to cross-functional groups throughout our global organization. You will focus on working in the lab designing battery solutions, publishing your findings, and working with the VP of Technology to troubleshoot customer battery problems thereby helping us retain existing customers and grow the business.

Celgard® battery separators are polypropylene and/or polyethylene electrolytic membranes that offer excellent product uniformity, strength, chemical stability, and energy performance. Our expansion is designed to increase production capacity to supply lithium battery manufacturers focused on the Electric Drive Vehicle industry and we're helping realize the promise of a greener economy.
The Essentials
In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
- A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engieering, etc.
- Solid knowledge in Math, Physics, Chemical Engineering and Computing.
- A proven track record of Modeling (preferably Modeling in Batteries).
- Knowledge in Batteries and/or Electrochemistry is preferred.
- A hard working and dedicated ethic.

In 2008, we acquired a new technology along with production facilities in Korea, so that we now have the broadest portfolio in our industry. In 2010, we announced plans to expand our Korean facility to serve growth in the consumer electronics market.
In 2009, we received a matching grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to support the development of a U.S.-based electric drive vehicle (EDV) market. In 2010 we announced plans to use the DOE grant funding to expand capacity at our existing Charlotte facility and build a new manufacturing facility in Concord, N.C.

Role Specifics
Reporting to the Vice President of R&D with a dotted line to the Vice President of Technology, you will join the R&D team at our Charlotte headquarters. As you come on board, we will expect you to quickly gain a thorough understanding of our people, products and systems to begin making a real impact. You will position yourself as a battery subject-matter expert and communicate that expertise throughout the organization.
